The Angel by Troy Lambert

Hans Christian Anderson is one of my favorite authors of all time. His stories are a perfect balance of magic and reality, love and sacrifice. He never shied away from a sad ending while also giving us hope.

This short story does exactly that. Based on Anderson’s poem The Dying Child, it’s a moving tale about two children in different timelines. I instantly connected with both of them and the people they cared about. The emotional impact of it is immeasurable, though it doesn’t leave you sad – only at peace. There are no monsters, no demons, and no evil. There is just life and death and what comes before and after.

I thought it was beautiful and worth the time to check it out.
